LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – It’s officially halfway through the year, but Aurora Theatre is not slowing down on delivering the best in theatre, concerts, comedy, children’s programming and more. The regional theatre will kick off July with Aurora Comedy Nights featuring the hilarious Baron Vaughn. The high-energy Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band Freebird will make its Lawrenceville Arts Center debut, along with the new satirical comedy The Pros & Cons Of Killing Your Cult Leader. Back by popular demand, audience-favorite events Summer Slam: Open Mic-Night & Market and Drag Cabaret, Cocktails & Comedy are sure to entertain as they return this month. The Summer Children’s Playhouse line-up also continues with the thrilling world of dry ice in Freeze Frame and improv comedy created with kids in mind from Blacktop Playground. Aurora Academy’s high school camp will be so fetch as community teens learn and present Mean Girls Jr. under the direction of industry professionals.

Bartow & Leslie Morgan CabaretWith twenty years of experience touring top clubs and comedy festivals, along with numerous television appearances as an actor and a comic, Baron Vaughn is a proud addition to the Aurora Comedy Nights line-up. Audiences will know him best as Bud from the Netflix series Grace & Frankie, starring alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. He’s also a creative force behind the scenes, co-creating and co-hosting the groundbreaking Comedy Central showcase variety series The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle.

Jennifer, Nicole, Sarah and Michelle are tasked with welcoming a new member into the Elder Women’s Chamber: the young, wide-eyed, innocent Anne. As Anne discovers that the community she grew up in and the leader she has idolized are not what they seem, she decides to take matters into her own hands. The Elder Women’s Chamber must debate the best way to save their livelihoods and their community, and decide if those things are even worth saving.

Monday – Friday, 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.Aurora Theatre Academy is offering camps for rising stars of all ages and interests. In July, camps include a Bootcamp Series offering classes in voice, acting for stage and dance; Acting for Camera; Songwriting and Music; Costumes and Crafts, where students will help prepare costumes for Aurora Theatre’s upcoming show Beautiful; and the Dog Man: The Experience, based on a popular children’s story. Rising 9th through 12th graders can be a part of the most fetch musical to ever come to the Lawrenceville Arts Center in the Mean Girls Jr. performance camp.
