ATLANTA – March 2, 2026 – Spivey Hall has many musical opportunities coming up for young people this spring and summer.

The Spivey Hall Children’s Choir has opened audition registration for the 2026-2027 Season, with auditions taking place on Saturday, April 25. The choir program offers professional-level instruction in vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, ear training, and presentation. The choir program draws families from 19 different counties across Georgia. Singers must be between the ages of 10 and 15 by September 1, 2026, to participate. “The Spivey Hall Children’s Choir program offers a nurturing environment for young people to grow, learn, and evolve not just as musicians but also as individuals,” states Artistic Director, Dr. Craig Hurley. “I take great pride in the character, work ethics, and beautiful singing of our students. It is both a joy and a privilege to rehearse with these talented individuals each week. Our young musicians serve as outstanding representatives of Spivey Hall and Clayton State University.”

An open house for the Children’s Choir will be held on Monday, March 23, at 7:15 pm, where singers and families can hear all three choirs, experience a mock audition, and meet the choir directors. The event is free. Please RSVP here: https://claytonstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0NdSLRz5bpE3fo2

Additionally, registration is now open for Spivey Hall Summer Music Camp 2026. The camp is open to 4th – 8th graders and will take place at Spivey Hall the week of June 8 – 12 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. Previous music experience is not required to attend. The camp offers students a chance to experience a broad range of musical activities, including chorus, percussion, dancing, games, and many more – all while making friends and discovering new talents.

“The brilliant energy of children in Spivey Hall brings to life Plato’s quote where he writes that music gives ‘wings to the mind and flight to the imagination,’” says Director of Education and Community Engagement, Melanie Darby. “This reflects the heart of Spivey Hall Connects.”

The Spivey Hall Connects Program reaches over 5,000 students in surrounding areas. Register your camper here: https://claytonstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dnXOlrTSkP7HGh8
