ATLANTA — It’s so fetch! The Sandy Springs-based City Springs Theatre Company closes its already acclaimed 2025 – 2026 PNC Season with the regional premiere of the hit Broadway musical MEAN GIRLS, based on the popular 2004 film of the same name. The musical is a modern-day satire of high school and social hierarchies, as a teenager’s revenge scheme against her school’s most-popular clique goes horribly awry.

Performances run May 1-17 at the Byers Theatre in the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

“Because of its high-energy, pop score, and Tina Fey’s punchline-driven script, Mean Girls quickly established itself as an audience favorite both on Broadway and in London,” says City Springs Theatre Company Executive Director Natalie DeLancey. “Like all great musical-comedies, Mean Girls absolutely knows how to entertain audiences, and it does so with great wit and confident absurdity – everything you want for a good time at the theatre.”

The story of MEAN GIRLS focuses on Cady Heron, a teenager who transfers to an Illinois public high school after being homeschooled her whole life in Africa. As she navigates high school life, she befriends outsiders Janis and Damian, who persuade her to infiltrate the “The Plastics”, the school’s most-influential clique. Along the way friendships and relationships are tested, and Cady must confront her own choices and how she has helped tear the entire school apart.

MEAN GIRLS contains adult themes, adult language and is recommended for ages 13+. Running time is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, with one intermission.MEAN GIRLS is a 12-time Tony®-nominated Broadway hit (including Best Musical) with a book by Tina Fey, the Emmy®-winning writer and star of TV’s Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock and The Four Seasons). The music was written by Fey’s husband, the Emmy-winning composer Jeff Richmond (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and the lyrics were written by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde: The Musical). City Springs Theatre Company’s production of MEAN GIRLS will be directed by Anthony C. Daniel, with musical direction by Sara Chiesa, and choreography by Elle May Patterson.
