The Lone Bellow Headlines Second Season of The Lantern Series

Speakeysie News Desk — July 30.2019

On August 17th, the second season of Elm Street Cultural Arts Village’s The Lantern Series kicks off with The Lone Bellow, the Nashville-based trio that puts an indie and alternative edge on the traditional country sound. One of two headliners for the upcoming season of the outdoor concert series, The Lone Bellow promises “earnest and magnetic folk-pop built to shake the rafters,” (NPR).

Formed in 2013, The Lone Bellow features Georgia native Zach Williams on guitar and vocals, Kanene Donehey Pipkin on multiple instruments and vocals, and Brian Elmquist on guitar as well as vocals. In 6 short years, the band has released 3 albums, been nominated for an Americana Music Award, and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Show With David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, CBS This Morning, Later…with Jools Holland, and The Late Late Show With James Corden for their 2015 album, “Then Came The Morning.”

“The Lone Bellow immediately stood out because of their indie vibe in the mainstream country music scene, particularly through their harmonies,” says Christopher Brazelton, Elm Street’s Executive Director. This concert is also special because it is a homecoming of sorts – guitarist and vocalist Zach Williams is from the area and graduated from Etowah High School. Brazelton adds that “They bring a lot that is different to the table while still having that homegrown feel that you associate with that style of music.”

The outdoor concert is a one-night engagement on Saturday, August 17th at 7:30pm. The Lone Bellow is appropriate for all ages to attend. Families, friends, and co-workers alike will enjoy a musical experience that features an electric energy coupled with tight-knit harmonies. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks (no outside alcohol) and decorate their tables. Reformation beer and a variety of wines will be available for purchase.
