Family Fun Fills the Lawrenceville Arts Center, Home of Aurora Theatre, this Spring
Special performances by and for students and lots of great educational opportunities abound
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.– Spring is here and everyone is ready to emerge from their winter hibernation and embrace the fun. Families with children and students can find activities and performances galore at the Lawrenceville Arts Center as the school year winds down. From the silly stories in Aurora Children’s Playhouse Series to hands-on activities with Spring Break Camp, May the 4th Jedi Training workshop and Aurora Theatre’s Summer Camp Open House and One Day Sale there’s plenty of fun to be had for kids of all ages. Families can also take in two special productions from local high schools as students from Georgia Gwinnett College perform William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Central Gwinnett High School’s brand-new School of the Arts presents their debut The SpongeBob Musical on the Clyde and Sandra Strickland Grand Stage.

Aurora Children’s Playhouse welcomes back magician Arthur Atsma for a special Spring Break Performance! Arthur captivates folks of all ages with his sleight of hand magic in a show filled with audience interaction and comedy. You are going to love his April-foolishness as, right before your eyes, the impossible happens.

Handling exotic animals for over 20 years, Reptile Wrangler Ken Panse loves all of the amazing things Mother Nature has to offer. Children will be fascinated by his creepy, crawly slithering beasts, in this fun, interactive experience!

You’ll get hooked by Captain Tater Tot, the pirate ringmaster, who loses all his circus cargo in a mighty storm at sea. This amazing aquatic adventure features puppets made from recycled and repurposed plastic bottles. As the “Tide” rolls in, there will be endless waves of laughter watching Octavius the tap-dancing Octopus, Cecilia the unicycling seahorse, and Stella the starfish on the high wire.

Manga African Dance captivates with the pulsating sounds of Sunu, ceremonial music played by the Malinke people of Guinea and Mali during traditional festivals. This performance will transport children to the villages of West Africa, where popular American dances such as the Charleston and popular hip-hop moves were born.

Break Out! After two years of masks and lockdowns students are ready to break out and pursue their passions. Aurora Theatre Academy is planning a full-week camp that will be held at the exciting new Lawrenceville Arts Center Campus. This spring break, everything is coming up roses for the student who longs to be in the spotlight. Camp includes attending the Spring Break Magic Show as part of the fun.
