Family Friendly Theatre: Suessical Jr. Comes to Woodstock Arts for One Weekend Only

Speakeysie News Desk

WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Woodstock Arts production of Seussical Jr., a youth talent spotlight show, opens Thursday, November 13 at the Woodstock Arts Theatre with a 7 p.m. showtime.

A youth spotlight show is cast entirely by students in third through eighth grade, giving them an opportunity to be front and center and for Woodstock Arts to help foster young local talent.

Seussical Jr. takes place in the world of Dr. Seuss and this lighthearted and magical show tells a story of friendship and loyalty.

Guided by the Cat in the Hat, the audience and characters travel to the Jungle of Nool and meet Horton the elephant, who discovers Whoville; an entire city that exists on a small speck of dust. Horton has to protect Whoville and an abandoned egg left in his care by Mayzie la Bird while navigating dangers and challenges along his journey. Seussical Jr. is a story that teaches the power of being true to yourself.

This youth spotlight is directed and choreographed by Woodstock Arts educator, Kristina Gault, an experienced teacher at working with children in theatre. In addition to working at Woodstock Arts, Gault has also worked on productions with local schools like River Ridge High School on their latest musical Beetlejuice Jr.

Seussical Jr. is playing on the Woodstock Arts stage for only one weekend, November 13 through November 16. The show runs approximately 60 minutes with a 15 minute intermission and is a family show recommended for all ages. Tickets are available on woodstockarts.org and for sale at the door.
